我们没有大集团的财势、没有明星的号召力、也没有冲向前线的勇气;

我们有着一颗与他们一样炽热的心和无限的爱;朋友,尽我们所能,去表现我们的爱心吧!

May 23-27, 08-My First Visit to Cambodia

May 23, 2008-The Story Begun ... ...

May 23, 08, I stepped on the Siem Reap airport at 8.15 am (Malaysia time 9.15 am). Taken picture of the aircraft which flew me there and "accidentally" took the picture together with the airport staff. Hmm..... No bad, at least there is a picture that I "took together" with a cambodian. ha..ha...

I still remember that time while i was taking this photo. She showed me a very annoying face and as soon as i finished the shooting, she tried to chase me away by saying, "Please go! Please go!" ??????

WHERE DID WE STAY WHILE WE WERE AT SIEM REAP??

City River Hotel - the hotel which we stayed for 2 days

THE FIRST PLACE THAT WE VISITED AT SIEM REAP

23.5.2008 - After checked in to hotel, our first vist was to Siem Reap Old Market. It's a place which sell a lot of things : souvenirs, scarf, handbag, food, vagetable.... .....

THE FIRST THING THAT WE BOUGHT

Guess what was the first thing that bought by one of my friend while she was at Siem Reap old market???

The anser is : UMBRELLA! !

She told us that she has the habit of "collecting" umbrella from all of the countries that she visited. Cool huh??

After wandering around Siem Reap Old Market, we had our lunch at one of the nearby restaurant. After that, we start our journey to Angkor.

WHAT DO YOU NEED BEFORE YOU ENTER TO ANGKOR??

Yes, you need this PASS. The staff at the ticket counter will snap your photo and "paste" it on the pass.

How important of this pass? If you don't have this pass, you are not allow to enter any part of Angkor and... ... please pay when you want to go to the washroom at Angkor area.

WHERE DID WE VISIT WHEN WE WERE AT ANGKOR?

The first part of Angkor that we visited was Bakhen Hill. The purpose of climbing up to the hill was to view the scenary of sunset. Unfortunately we failed to see the sunset as that was a cloudy day after heavy rain. Just snapped some picture and walked down from the hill after that.

24 May 2008 - Visited the main places of interest of Angkor

South Gate of Angkor - The most popular entrance that used by tourist to enter to Angkor

Bayon Temple

The Smiley Face of Bayon

Terrace of The Elephant

Ta Prohm Temple

Looks familiar huh??? This is the location that used for shooting of the movie "Thomb Raider", starring by Angelina Jolie. Actually people of Cambodia should thank to this movie as it indirectly introducing Angkor to the eyes of the world

All the while when we talked about Angkor Wat actually is refering to this temple. This temple appeared on the flag of the country of Cambodia.

The "leng cai" and "leng loi" from Malaysia. (Pay attention at the umbrella please, any diffrent from the umbrella that we can get from Malaysia?? ha.ha..)

50 minutes after we entered to Angkor Wat, it started to rain... ...

WHERE DID WE GO AFTER VISITING ANGKOR?

25 May 2008 - We visited to Tongle Sap floating village. Can you imagine how to feed a pig on the lake?

At Tongle Sap, you can see a floating school and floating basketball field which were built by foreigner such as Korean and Germany.

The Floating School of Tongle Sap

The floating basketball field of Tongle Sap

WHAT'S NEXT AFTER SIEM REAP?

After our lunch at Siem Reap, we were to take an "EXPRESS BUS" (which was full of mosquitoes that flew all around the bus) toward capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. The journey took us about 6 hours. Goosh.... ....We started our journey at 1.00pm and reached at 7.00pm.

One thing that I couldn't take it was the bus driver seems like enjoying of pressing his horn while he was driving. When you felt like going to fall asleep, you will suddenly awaken by the sound of the horn that "dedicated" by the driver especially for you.... .... felt like going to get crazy while sitting inside... ...

This is the "bus station" at Phnom Penh at 7.00 pm (Malaysia time 8.00pm, that's why it looked so dark).

WHERE DID WE VISIT AT PHNOM PENH?

26 May 2006 - Started our "adventure" at Phom Penh.

Killing field - A place which full of graves and sculpt of the victims of the inhuman acts of Pol Pot.

"Killing tree against which executioners beat children"

The used of the "Killing Tree"

Magic tree - The tree was used as a tool to hang a loudspeakers which produced sound louder to avoid the moan of the victims while they were being executed.

After visiting to the Killing Field, we proceed to Toul Sleng museum which displayed items of the inhuman acts of Pol Pot. Don't wanna talk too much about this museum as people of Cambodia might try to forget the story behind it, why should i go to reveal it... ....

Independent Monument

The Royal Palace of Phnom Penh

These are the "7 beauties" of the Royal Palace. Each beauty represent one of the day in a week which started from Sunday. The color of the uniform of the staff who work at The Royal Palace will base on the color of the cloth of the beauty on the day. We visited the palace on Monday, therefore all of the staffs were wearing orange color uniform on that day.

Wat Phnom - The city get its name from this temple. "Phnom" means hill in Cambodia.

Central Market - The building was designed by Franch. Another place for you to shop untill your drop.

WHAT DID WE EAT WHILE WE WERE AT CAMBODIA??

Dishes from the local restaurant

One of the "rest house" of Tongle Sap is giving a special "promotion" - Buy one can of soft drink, free one plate of water boil shrimp

Wild mangosteen?

Cambodia Style Maggie Goreng

Deep fried spider, cricket, larva... ...

Eating the crickets ... ... yummy.... ...

That's all about my trip to Cambodia. We did visit to a jewel factory, silk factory, and Les Artisan D'Angkor too but not feel like sharing it. We also tried a Cambodian's Style Message. Hmm.... nothing special about it.

I would say that this is the most relaxing trip that i had ever joined so far. Why? Because too much of REST TIME! The tour guide will automatically sent us back to the hotel for a nap when came to 2.00pm even you don't wanna do so. The reason that they gave was : "It's too hot outside, we go back to rest first and come out again later in the evening." What can we say? Just follow lor.
